DAY 4 First Blogging from Students!

Hola!
As our trip begins, we’ve experienced some pretty cool things just in the past couple of days. We’re currently staying at the “Reserva Ecologica Bijugual de Sarapiqui”, and we all really like it here! It’s especially nice because they have hot water!! We’ll stay here for the next couple of days until we leave for our homestay families on Thursday morning. We have been working on our own research projects, and we’ve all split up into two different groups. Mary Kate, Jack, Hayes, and I are in a group together and our project is finding grasshoppers and putting them in different plastic bags. The boys really have enjoyed trying to catch the hoppers. After that we’ll put different plants in the bag (fibrous and non-fibrous) and then over the next two days we’ll see which kind of plant the grasshopper prefers to eat. The other girls are working on a project that has to do with frogs. After the projects are done we’ll present them to each other on Wednesday night. Other than that, we’ve been exploring around and enjoying some down time. Yesterday and this morning we saw howler monkeys! About 6 or 7 of them came and hung out (literally, haha) in a big tree right outside where we eat our meals. Pretty cool!

Okay, I think that’s about it for now… We’ll all try to blog again soon!

Xoxoxo,
Aby
